Decisions...

Soooo... Today I received an email from John Searby (Sales Manager from Adams Outdoor Advertising) and he offered me an interview this Friday, which I accepted. If you guys haven't been keeping up with my blog. I recently just received a job from Caterpillar and I am torn between two jobs. I am not sure if I want to stay with Cat which pays REALLY well, BUT... I am not happy. And Adams Outdoor Advertising which goes along with my major but I can't guarantee they can match what I am getting at Cat and I am not even sure if I will like it.

But lets say I do end up getting the job offer from Adams. How would I break it to my supervisor at Cat. "Oh thanks for giving me the opportunity but I was offered a better position" and she will say "Well, Ron thanks for wasting our time for the past 3 weeks" LOL I really don't know what to do.

  1. That's a tough one! I suppose it depends on which will get you where you want to go... Does Cat relate to your career at all?

  2. John's an awesome guy. I worked for him at his company, WorkFlow, and in the Athletic Department. However, in Marketing it is hard to find good pay in entry-level jobs, so if you have that at CAT that might be something to hang onto. However, as they say, "money can't buy happiness". Cheesy, I know. Believe me, money's a big factor for me right now, too. What's the position at Adams Outdoor?

  3. Searby is a cool guy. I was in his sports marketing class and I worked briefly with him in the Athletic Department. Ultimatly it comes down to what you want to do. I would take the interview with Searby and see if its something you even want to do.

  4. I hear that Cat is not a fun place to work and that everyone is eager to retire because they hate their jobs, but love the money.. I'd recommend going with something you enjoy or it will suck the joy out of life :)

  5. Like I told ya on Sunday, this is more geared toward your major and will help you in the long run. You are very fortunate to get the chance to have each opportunity. My friend works at Adam's and absolutely loves it. It'll be a great place to further your career path. Good luck!!
